An small airstrip near the southeastern border of Tsavo east national park. It has an airport lounge next to it and mostly serves small airplanes.

What to do there?Catch a flight out of the park or into it, with permits and payments being done at the Buchuma gate nearby. Or go for an air safari.

Best time to visit?The dry seasons of July to October and December to February when the park animals can be found near water sources - thus making game drives more eventful.

Location of Buchuma airstripThis airstrip is located next to Buchuma gate, just a short distance off the Mombasa - Nairobi highway. It is also near the south eastern border of Tsavo east national park.

How to get there?By train, air or road.

The airstrip along with others in the park are used by regional flights. The larger international ones are situated a bit further out in Mombasa and Nairobi.

Another option is the Nairobi - Mombasa railway that passes nearby. Either way, you still may need a vehicle to get into the park.

Or you could use a vehicle, whether a self drive safari or a tour operator, with the latter having the option of a rental or private vehicle.
