Kanderi swamp

A wetland in Tsavo east national park that is fed by the waters of Voi river. It is one of few water sources during the dry seasons, making it abundant with wildlife.

What to do there?Game drives, with a good track along the river banks where there is a good chance of seeing animals. A list of other attractions in the park can be found on our attractions page.

Best time to visit?The dry season of July to February bring more animals to it as other water sources dry up. There also is high mobility during this time as there are fewer chances of muddy roads.

Location of Kanderi swampKanderi swamp is situated on the banks of the Voi river, a few minutes east of the town of Voi and inside Tsavo East national park.

How to get there?By road, air or railway.

There is an airstrip right next door, with public transportation options a bit further out in Voi, where there is a bus station, as well as a railway station for the Nairobi — Mombasa line.

More commonly used is the safari drive through the dusty roads of the park, using a private or rental vehicle.
