The dam is located south of and within view of the small town of Butiama - a few kilometres off the shores of lake Victoria
of Tanzania. There are hotels, restaurants and shops available nearby in Butiama.

By vehicle, driving from Fort Ikoma gate
or Musoma. It is about a 3 hour drive from Mwanza, 2 from Musoma, and another 3 from fort Ikoma gate, though it may take less once the roads have been upgraded.
Any type of vehicle can be used to get there, though there are passenger buses from Arusha (through Serengeti
), Mwanza and Musoma that may be used. If coming from Mwanza or Musoma, then you would have to drop off at the small town of Kukirango, and get minibus to the place.
