Makoma hill

A gentle sloping hill that is located in central Serengeti, about 3 kilometres south west of Seronera village. It serves as a unique spot for wildlife viewing due to its Savannah styled - wooded environment and its concentration of predators, especially when the wildebeest are in the area.

There also are very few kopjes in its immediate vicinity.

What to do there?Game viewing from one of the tented camps at its base and game drives. It is one of the places that can be seen from above as planes land at the nearby Seronera airstrip, as well as from balloon safaris from the launch site nearby.

Best time to visitAny time from March to June, when the wildebeest and Zebra are in the area, enabling those at the migration camps to see them up close.

Location of Makoma hillMakoma hill is located on your left while on the road from Naabi hill to Seronera, and in north Western Tanzania. There are several tented migration camps at its base as well as both public and special campsites in the nearby Seronera area.

How to get there?By air or by road, with the later using a private, rental or tours and travels vehicle and about an hours drive to get there from Naabi hill. Although there are passenger buses that go through the area, you would still need a vehicle from there as walking inside the park is limited.

Similarly, getting there by air would require a vehicle, although it should provide you with views of the hill from above, along with that of several parts of Serengeti and possibly Ngorongoro.
