A large granite inselberg in
Namib Naukluft national park, with a length of 1 km, width of about half that and a height of over 40 m.
Its name means 'hyena's water' in one of the local languages — probably Hei//om, and was formed millions of years ago through volcanic activity. Over the years a combination of erosion and exfoliation helped to further shape it as the fluctuating temperatures of the Namib desert caused the outer layers to fall off.
Around it are several campsites — for those willing to spend a night under the stars or catch the early morning scenery.

It also is near the tropic of Capricorn which lies a few kilometres south of here.
