A collection of rocky hills or Koppie that are located in the southern part of Serengeti national park. They serve as a point where several plant and animal species can thrive, sheltered from the harsh weather of the plains.

They normally are a good place for game viewing, especially during the early months of the year when the wildebeest migration is in the area.

what to do there?Game viewing, including lions, many of whom can be seen resting atop the rocks during the day, along with zebra, elephants and wildebeest. For a list of other attractions in the area, please see the section below after map, or the attractions page.

Best time to visit?Any time of the year, but the early months would enable you to see the start of the wildebeest migration, with their newly born calves and zebra that tag along. As this is also when the rainy season starts, you may need a good 4 x 4 if intending to do an extensive roaming of the plains.

Location of Moru kopjesMoru kopjes are located in the southern part of the expansive Serengeti plains of north western Tanzania. It also lies along the early stages of the path that is taken by the wildebeest migration on its way north after calving in Ndutu. For more information on this location, please see the map below.

How to get there?By flight, you would have to use either the Seronera airstrip or the one at lake Ndutu, then take a chartered tours vehicle from there to the location, though prebooking the vehicle may be required.

If going there by vehicle, you would need a private, rental or ours vehicle as it is quite a distance from the route used by passenger buses i.e. Naabi hill to Seronera route.

For more information on park fees and tariffs, please see the TANAPA website, and if going there by a private car, fees paid include vehicle entry fee, camping/accommodation fees and conservation fees.
