A small cluster of rock hills or
Koppie that are located in the south eastern plains of
Serengeti national park. They serve as a refuge for both plants and animals, a more hospitable environment when compared to the sunny plains.
For this reason, they are a good destination for game drives - with some of the animals you may see here being lions.
What to do there?Game drives around the many koppie in the vicinity, though you may need a good guide to spot the predators. The area could also be viewed from above using either an air or balloon safari.
For a list of other attractions that you could visit in the area, please see the section below after map or the
attractions page.
Best time to visit?Any time from January to March every year, a time when the wildebeest and zebra are spread out over the plains in this or nearby areas, slowly making their way north as part of their annual migration.
This is after spending the end of the year calving near the
lake Ndutu or in
Maswa game reserve.
Location of Soito kopjesSoito kopjes are located about a kilometre south of
Oldoinyo Olobaiye, near the south eastern border between
Ngorongoro conservation area and Serengeti national park. It also is in north western Tanzania, near the shores of lake Victoria.

How to get there?By air or by vehicle, with the first being the faster and more convenient, offering rare views of Serengeti and Ngorongoro from above before landing at the nearby
Kusini or
Moru airstrips.
For the more scenic land based route, you could either use a rental, private or tours and travels vehicle, taking about 45 minutes to get there from
