Kanga campsite

No image
A special campsite on the northern end of Tarangire national park, about a 5 minute drive south of the Tarangire river. It is an open field with no facilities, and all campers have to bring their own equipments and food.

Just like most special campsites in the park, there is a need to book it prior to arrival, and its use is exclusive to the person or group that books it. This means less security from animals than at public campsites, thus a ranger may be needed as well.

What to do there?Camping, game drives of it and nearby areas, bird watching, bush meals etc. with other attractions to visit in the park that can be found on our attractions page.

Best time to visitThe dry season is when the experiences are best - most roads usable and camping can be done with the stars visible above you. On the other hand, the rainy season is for those with a good 4x4 and waterproof camping gear.

Location of Kanga campsiteKware campsite is inside Tarangire national park, about a 20 minute drive south of the main park gate and headquarters at the northern end. About a 5 minute drive away is the Tarangire river, and Tarangire's public campsite number 1.

For more information on this location, please see the map below.

How to get there?By road or air, with the latter having three park airstrips nearby, as well as other airport outside it such as Arusha or lake Manyara airports; However, most of these serve smaller regional flights, with the ones that serve the larger international ones being a bit further out at Kilimanjaro or Dar es salaam.

Alternatively, you could get here using a self driven safari, using a private or rental vehicle, with daily park tariffs for this including conservation fees, vehicle fees and possibly camping or accommodation fees.

The last option is that of tours vehicles, whose fees may vary but usually incorporate park tariffs. For more information on park fees and tariffs, please see the TANAPA website.
