A public campsite on the western shores of lake Jipe, inside Tsavo west national park. It has few facilities such as toilets and a good supply of water, with campers having to bring their food and equipment.

Unlike special campsites, no pre-booking is required and accommodation is not exclusive to the person that books it.

What to do there?Spend a night camping under the stars and on the lake shore, with amazing views of it and of mt. Kilimanjaro in the distance. Or go bird watching, game drives, safari walks etc.

A list of other things to see inside this park can be found on our attractions page.

Best time to visit? The dry season of July to February every year, when all of the park roads are usable and camping experiences are dry.

Location of Lake Jipe campsite The campsite is located on the south western end of Tsavo West national park, and on the shore of lake Jipe - with mount Kilimanjaro just a few hours worth of driving from here.

For more information on this location, please see the map below.

How to get there?By air or road,

There is an airstrip nearby, with no vehicles being required to get to the campsite unless if intending to do a game drive.

Or have a good old safari drive to the location - whether self driven or otherwise, with a lot more wonders and animals to see along the way.
