A private campsite located on the banks of the Mara river, with no facilities - requiring all who use it to bring their own food and camping equipment.

Like all private campsites, its use is exclusive and requires booking before using it, which can be done online.

What to do there?Wildlife viewing from the comfort of your own tent or chair, with elephants, giraffes and a large number of migrating birds being a regular sight.

The park requires that two rangers accompany you at the campsite for security reasons. For list of attractions in the vicinity, please see our attractions page.

Best time to visit?During the months of August and September when the wildebeest and zebra migration is in or near the area.

Location of Maji ya ndege campsiteMaji ya ndege campsite is located on the northern end of Masai Mara national reserve, a small clearing amidst trees right next to the Mara river as it meanders through the plains.

How to get there?By air or road, with a number of landing points nearby to choose from such as Oloololo airstrip, Kichwa tembo airstrip and
the Mara north airstrip. The only caveat being the requirement of a vehicle to get to the camp.

Or take a drive to the location, with Oloololo gate being the nearest entry point.

You could also get to the some of the park's gates by bus, though you may have to rent a vehicle to get in, which could be found at the hotels and lodges in the area.
