One of many special campsites inside Tarangire national park of northern Tanzania. Unlike public campsites, it has no facilities just an open field near the Tarangire river.

As per special campsite, all campers are required to bring their own food and equipment, as well as pre - book prior it to arrival.

What to do there?Spend a night under the stars and a lot closer to wild animals, have a bushmeal while you are at it, as well as game drives of it and nearby areas. You may need an experienced guide or ranger to accompany you.

Best time to visitThe dry seasons, for a better chance of spotting animals in the area, better driving conditions as well as a rain free camping experience. This would be anytime from July to February each year, with the possibility of short rains in November.

Location of Nyuki campsiteNyuki special campsite is located near the eastern banks of the Tarangire river, just a 30 or so minute drive south of the park's main entrance gate and headquarters. For more information on this location, please see the map below.

How to get there?By air or by road, with the first having a number of airstrips to use inside the park, as well as those around it; However, most of these are small and for regional flights, with the larger international ones being located a bit further out in Arusha or Kilimanjaro.

Alternative methods include a self drive safari, using a rental or private vehicle - with daily park tariffs for this including conservation fees, vehicle fees and possibly camping or accommodation fees.
