Blettermanhuis of Stellenbosch village museum 1
One of the houses inside the Stellenbosch village museum — furnished to show the lifestyle of a wealthy Stellenbosch family from the late 18th century.

It was built in 1789 by Hendrik Lodewyk Bletterman, the last magistrate of Stellenbosch to be appointed by the Dutch East India Company before seceding control of the area.

Since then it has been used as a public office, courtroom, school and police headquarters before its use as a museum from 1979 — after some renovation.

The original building used Cape Dutch architecture — a h-shaped ground plan with a thatched roof, 6 gables and white washed walls.
