One of Namibia's privately owned museums, showing a history of Cape cross — a small settlement on the country's western coast named for a stone cross or padrao erected by Portuguese explorer Diogo Cão in 1486.

The museum is housed inside the Cape cross lodge, with a collection that includes photographs and items used by the area's early settlers, as they battled the harsh coastal desert conditions to harvest seal skins and bird guano.

There also is a souvenir shop.
