Mafwe living museum

A small traditional village in northern Namibia that serves as an open air museum, showing the original way of living for the Mafwe people — a river dwelling bantu tribe.

Inside it are traditional huts and structures inhabited by demonstrators and tribesmen dressed in authentic Mafwe garments — living life just as it would have been during pre-colonial times.

Visitors have the option of taking part in some of the activities, sampling the food, purchasing some of the crafts and even camping there.

Location of Mafwe living museumOn the eastern end of Namibia's Caprivi strip — near the Kwando river's flood plains, as well as the borders with Zambia and Angola.

It also is in an area surrounded by baobab trees.
