Lemosho gate or Lemosho glades trail head, is an entry point into mount Kilimanjaro as well as the start of the Lemosho hiking trail.

Hikers intending to get into the park would first have to register with the park authorities at the Londorosi gate then get to Lemosho gate by car where the actual hiking begins.

At the time of writing, there is not much at the gate except for a sign detailing the names, altitudes and distances for each campsite encountered along the route.

This is where the actual trail starts and also where you meet your porter and the final packing, may be done.

About 300m down the road you came from, is a small office for the ranger/watchmen as well as toilets.

What to do thereHiking, picnics, bird watching, game viewing, start the hike up the mountain — good luck.

Best time to visitThe drier and warmer periods of the year, usually July to October and December to February.

Location of Lemosho gateLemosho gate lies on the north-western foothills of mt. Kilimanjaro, near plantations and in a rural area called Lemosho.

It lies within relatively close (7km) proximity to the first campsite - Mti mkubwa camp.

Getting there would require the use of a robust 4X4 vehicle as the roads are sometimes impassable at the height of the rainy season.

However, the area is also notoriously prone to rainfall even well outside the rainy season, probably due to its altitude and position near the montane forest.
