Ngongongare gate

    Altitude: 1400 m.a.m.s.l.

    One of the entrance gates into Arusha national park that is located on its south eastern border. It serves as a TANAPA administrative checkpoint where permits for entering the park may be obtained or checked - with several facilities on site such as TANAPA offices, toilets, information displays a cafe and a souvenir shop.

    What to do there ?Get information about the park - including fees, permits, maps, locations, and available activities. There are TANAPA offices there from where you could pay for permits - though at the time of writing, most payments are done by well recognised electronic debit or credit cards.

    The gate is also a checkout point and where you could obtain rangers or guides to accompany you.

    Location of Ngongongare gate Ngongongare gate is located a short distance inside the south eastern border of Arusha national park, far from the rainforest that is characteristic of the park. Just a few minutes up north is the mini Serengeti - a small field where animals graze in the mornings. For more information on this location, please see the map below.

    How to get there ?From the city of Arusha or Moshi, there are passenger buses that go through the park - all the way to Momella, a small town north of the park; However these do not stop inside the park. Alternatively, you could either use any kind of private, rental or tours and travel vehicle - with the journey there from the Arusha - Moshi highway taking about 20 minutes.
