An entrance gate into Tsavo east national park that is located on its north eastern end. There are park facilities such as toilets, as well as restaurants and riverside hotels and lodges nearby.

What to do there?Get your permits checked in or out, or pay for and acquire them, with KWS using a cashless payment system. There also is an airstrip nearby for flights as well as air safaris - though you may have to book elsewhere.

Best time to visit?The dry seasons of July to October and December to February.

Location of Sala gateSala gate is located on the southern banks of the Galana river, and on the north eastern border of Tsavo east national park. It is also in a remote area, on the Tsavo - malindi road.

How to get there?By air or road.

There is an airstrip next to it, though for international flights you may still have to go to Mombasa or Nairobi.

The gate is the best way to get into the park from Malindi, via one to two hour drive - using a rental or private vehicle.
