One of Botswana's national parks, and home to the
Nxai salt pan, as well as century old baobabs.
It is a part of the Kavango - Zambezi Transfrontier conservation area.
The landscapeFew to no hills, mostly grasslands and shrublands, with a section of salt flats and woodlands. The vegetation flourishes during the summer rains of November to March.
Animals to seeLions, leopards, cheetahs, both brown and spotted hyena, bat-eared fox, jackal, Cape wild dog, giraffe, elephant, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, springbok, gemsbok, impala, ostrich, aardwolf, and honey badgers.
What to do thereGame drives, camping, bird watching.
Best time to visitDuring the dry winter months, when water is scarce and more wildlife can be seen near the waterholes.
Location of Nxai pan national parkIt sits within the Makgadikgadi salt flats, sharing its southern border with the
Makgadikgadi Pans national park.
The park also lies within the Kalahari basin.
