The highest point of the
Udzungwa mountains national park, a narrow ridge in a small clearing amidst the rain forest, in central Tanzania. It is one of several hiking destinations on the mountain, accessible through most of the longer trails.
What to do there?Hike to it from the outer edges of the park, whether to just be closer to nature or for the amazing views that it provides. It offers a chance for a three to five day or more, walking safari with the possibility to see wild animals and some rare plant species along the way.
Best time to visit?Any time of the year not in the rainy season of March to June.
Location of Luhomero peakLuhomero peak is located on the western end of Udzungwa mountains national park, with the
Ng'ung'umbi swamp to the north, separating it from the northern trails; However, it is more easily reached through trails from the rest of the park with the shortest being the one from Udekwa village.

How to get there?By hiking from the outer edges of the park, this can be from the west, south, east or the north - if you are able to cross the Ng'ung'umbi swamp.
There are airports in the area near the park, the largest being Nduli in Iringa, though you still would need vehicular transport to get from there to the park. The same also applies for the train and passenger buses.
The TAZARA train goes from Dar es Salaam to Kapiri Mposhi about once a week, passing through Selous game reserve, the eastern as well as southern edges of the park. A more scenic option of getting to the park.
