The highest waterfall in Kenya, located inside Aberdare national park with a staggering 273 m drop, in 3 stages.

The first stage is 117 m high, followed by a smaller 26 m one and finally a 130m drop to the plunge pool.

Nearby is a parking lot from where a short hike is taken to a viewing platform, perched on a cliff near the top of the falls.

It can also be seen from Gura falls on the opposite site of the gorge, and vice versa.

What to do there?Hike to the falls and the neighbouring ones, bird watching, game viewing, picnics.

Best time to visitAny time during the less rainy days of the year

Location of Karuru waterfallKaruru falls are in the southern end of Aberdare national park, with Gura falls being on the opposite side of the same gorge.

All around it is a sea of green - indigenous trees.

How to get thereBy vehicle, or hiking, with the latter requiring an armed KWS ranger escort.

Whichever method you chose, the last bit requires a short hike through the rain forest.
