Aruba dam

An age old man made dam in the southern plains of Tsavo east national park. Sitting on the Voi river, it serves as a valuable water source for animals in the area, making it a good destination for game drives.

It is said to have been constructed during the colonial area and there is a lodge next to it, with a jetty that extends into the dam itself.

What to do there?Game drives, with a number of animals to see - both predator, prey and those that live in water. Or visit one of the other attractions in the park, a list of which can be found on our attractions page.

Best time to visit?Any time of the year, as there is an airstrip and a lodge nearby for accommodation. Some of the roads in other areas of the park may become impassable during the rainy season.

Location of Aruba damAruba dam is located on the Voi river, and on the southern end of Tsavo east national park. It also is less than an hour's drive from the Mombasa - Nairobi highway and railway.

For more information on this location, please see the map below.

How to get there?By air or road. Even though there is a railway and passenger buses a few kilometres west in the town of Voi, some transportation would still be required to get to the dam.

There is an airstrip nearby, though a good old fashioned safari drive would still get you there from Voi gate.

For more information on the park fees and charges, please see the KWS website.
