Himeville museum

A museum in KwaZulu Natal showing the history of Himeville — a town first established in the late 19th century as an outpost for the Natal mounted rifles.

It is housed in one of their forts, built in 1899 and later on seeing use as a prison before becoming a museum in 1976.

Inside are items from the town's past, from as far back as the stone age to the indigenous san bushmen, early European settlers and wildlife.

There also are replicas of the town's past buildings including the prison warders house, an old office, old school room and a blacksmith's workshop.
