Hugh Exton photographic museum

No image
A museum showing the history of Polokwane through more than 23000 photographs and glass negatives taken between 1892 and 1945 by Hugh Exton — a famous local photographer.

It housed in a renovated, Dutch reformed church from the 1890's, with the old Cape Dutch exterior look.

Most are in black and white and were taken using some of the earliest photography technology, a few of which are on display at the museum.

In them are Polokwane's past buildings, landscapes, architecture, clothing, and people of all races and status.
