The Mwalimu Nyerere museum is located in Butiama district of the North Western region of Tanzania called Mara. The area is quite small, in fact its population is small enough to be village, but it was upgraded to a district in honor of Nyerere.
It also lies in the middle of a community that is partly made up of people that have lived under the rule of both chief Nyerere, and his son J.K Nyerere and if you are lucky you may get to talk to one of them (villagers) for a more up close tale of the times.
