The flagship museum for the National Museums of Kenya, opened in September 1930 by the colonial government of that time.

It showcases artifacts from Kenya’s history, nature and wildlife, culture and contemporary arts.

Also has an art gallery, a number of shopping and dining facilities, as well as nature trails and botanical gardens.

First located at the present Nyayo House, which later became too small, then moved in 1922 to where the Nairobi Serena Hotel stands today, and finally to its current location.

What to do there?Learn about Kenya's rich heritage, shop for souvenirs, wine and dine at the restaurants.

Also a good venue for functions and events, with a number of conference halls.

How to get thereBy vehicle, cycling, walking, passenger buses, taxis or other city transportation methods.

It is about a 10 minute drive from the city centre, with the airports and SGR trains stations being a bit further out.
