One of several entrance points into Tsavo east national park, a security checkpoint located on its south eastern end. It has facilities such as toilets, a KWS office and an airstrip nearby.

Best time to visit?The dry seasons of July to October and December to February when the park animals can be found near water sources.

Location of Buchuma gateBuchuma gate is located a short distance off the Mombasa - Nairobi highway, and on the south eastern border of Tsavo east national park.

How to get there?By train, air or road. There is an airstrip near it and others inside the park; However, these are mostly for regional flights, with the larger international ones being situated a bit further out in Mombasa and Nairobi.

The Nairobi - Mombasa railway passes nearby, though you still may need a vehicle to get into the park.

A self drive safari is also possible, using a rental or private vehicle. Or you could use a tour operator.
