Loduare gate

    Altitude: 1760 m.a.m.s.l.

The southernmost entrance gate into the Ngorongoro conservation area, and also the closest to a major city - Arusha. It is the most popular of all gates, normally filled with a multitude of tourists at all times.

What to do there?Get your permits checked before entering the conservation area. It is possible to get your permits at any NCAA office within the city of Arusha, in which case you would need to get your permits checked at the gate.

You can also pay for and acquire permits at the gate, a slightly longer process than the latter. The only caveat being all payments are done via cards i.e. VISA, MASTER CARD (and others) credit or debit cards.

You could also get some information onsite, buy drinks and meals at the onsite canteen, or souvenirs from the kiosk.

Best time to visitAny time of the year, with more emphasis towards the December to February months, just after the short rains and when the wildebeest are in or near Ngorongoro.
