A park outpost located on the southern border of Udzungwa mountains national park. It also is the start of the Lumemo trail that goes to the eastern border of the park.

What to do there?Get your permits checked before starting out on your hike or before leaving the park; However, permits may have to be acquired at the park headquarters at Mangula - check with TANAPA.

Best time to visit?Any time of the year not in the rainy season of March to June.

Location of Lumemo ranger postLumemo ranger post is located near the Lumemo river banks, on the southern border of Udzungwa mountains national park - surrounded by rain forest. It is also a few kilometres north of the town of Ifakara.

The main form of accommodation in the area are campsites with hotels and lodges being available outside the park. For more information on this location, please see the map below.

How to get there?By air, train, bus or private vehicle.

The TAZARA railway passes through nearby Ifakara weekly, from Dar es Salaam heading to Kapiri Mposhi - Zambia, passing through scenic rural Tanzania as well as the northern edges of Selous game reserve.

The Ifakara airstrip is the closest, though you may need to use extra transport to get to the park gate. You could also use a private or rental vehicle to get there.

There are passenger buses to the area from Mikumi or Morogoro as well as Songea.
