A small cluster of koppie that are located on Serengeti national park's southern border. It serves as a remote destination for game drives due to its location - an area where wildebeest come to calve, before heading north again into Masai Mara.

What to do there?Game drives and air safaris, to see the Wildebeest and Zebra herds, along with the predators that prey on them. There also are other attractions to visit in the area, a list of which can be found on the attractions page or the section below.

Best time to visitAny time from December to March every year, when the herds of Wildebeest and Zebra are either moving into the area, or calving. It is also a time not in any of the rainy seasons, and thus the roads are dry enough for extensive roaming without worrying about getting stuck in mud.

Location of Itiganya kopjesItiganya Kopjes is located on the south western border of Serengeti national park, with Maswa game reserve to its west and south. The main accommodation options in the area are tented migration camps and special campsites at lake Ndutu.

For more information on this place, please see the map below.

How to get there?By air or vehicle, with the first having the added advantage of seeing Serengeti and even Ngorongoro conservation area from above, before landing at the nearest - lake Ndutu airstrip and using a prearranged car to get there.

The more scenic land based route would give you a chance to see other parts of the park up close, as well as an adventure that could span as long as a week or a minimum of a day.

There is no discrimination as to the vehicle type you could use, but 4x4s do perform better. For More information on park fees and tariffs, please see the TANAPA website.
