    Altitude: 1824 m.a.m.s.l.

This is one of the 6 points where one can get amazing views of the Ngurudoto crater of Arusha national park. It is located right on the northern part of the crater rim - a clearing in the Ngurudoto forest that surrounds the crater, and one of the highest points of the rim.

It is known for providing some of the best view of the crater along with that of the snowy peak of mount Kilimanjaro, mount Meru, the Momela lakes and the agricultural settlements around them.

Apart from amazing views, it is a great picnic area with a lawn that stays evergreen throughout the year, concrete benches and an environment filled with tranquility along with the occasional sounds of nature.

    Location of Leitong View Point

The Leitong viewpoint is located on the North western part of the Ngurudoto crater rim, and on the eastern end of Arusha National park. It is also about an hour's drive south of the Momela lakes and about the same east of the Ngongongare gate. For more information on its location, please see the map below.

How to get there?By driving mostly, taking you past Ngurudoto museum and taking a left at the junction in the road about 2km from it. There are signposts throughout the park to direct all park visitors.

Any vehicle can be used to get there, whether 4x4 or not, and it can be a private, rental or tours and travel one, with the first two normally requiring payment of a vehicle entrance permit.

At the time of writing (2017), the fees required to visit the view point are the same as those for visiting the rest of the park, i.e. a conservation fee of TSHS 10,000 (East African citizens) or USD 45 (other nationals) on top of that of the vehicle permit.
