Tarangire airstrip

The most used airstrip inside Tarangire national park, located in the plains near its northern end. It is about the same size as Kuro airstrip and serves small regional aircraft.

What to do there?Catch a flight into or out of the park, with most being regional ones from airports or airstrips nearby. You may have to book your flights elsewhere, but may get a last minute one if you are lucky.

If more interested in time saving, then flying from one park to another may be a good way to get around.

Game drives in the area, both during the day and night are also possible, as well as camping, bird watching, balloon safaris, picnics and many more.

Best time to visitAny time of the year, though the rest of the park is best visited during the dry seasons of July to February each year.

Location of Tarangire airstripTarangire airstrip is located at the northern end of Tarangire national park, and north of the Tarangire river. It is also near the park headquarters and within walking distance of the main entrance gate.

How to get there?By air or by road, with the latter having the option of a self drive safari - using a private or rental vehicle, or buying a safari package from a tour operator.

Most flights to this airstrip are regional ones, requiring those from international locations to get a connecting flight at larger airports nearby such as those in Kilimanjaro, Songwe and Dar es salaam.
