Flintstones cave

No image
A hollowed out space between a set of rocks in Dorob national park — named for its resemblance to the Flintstones' stone home.

It has enough space inside for a few people to comfortably live in — minus the amenities, and was formed through gradual erosion of a set of rocks and the soil underneath, by the nearby Swakop river — leaving the current structure.

What to do thereCamping, picnics, rock climbing, hiking, game drives, game viewing, or visit the other attractions nearby.

Best time to visitAny time of the year not during the rainy season, when the Swakop rover may be flowing.

Location of Flintstones caveOn the northern banks of the Swakop river — which also serves as the border between Dorob national park and Namib Naukluft national park.

It also is within the Namib desert.

How to get thereBy vehicle, preferably 4x4 — a short drive north of Namib Naukluft's Moon Landscape.
