lake Lekandiro

A small lake that is located near arusha national park’s northeastern border, and the small town of Momella. Just like most lakes nearby, most of its water comes from rainfall.

What to do there ?Sightseeing, canoeing etc. The entrance to it is rather narrow, with two hills on either side that limit any views from the vehicle.

Best time to visit ?Any time of the year, as the soils in the area are mostly volcanic - and the roads to it being all seasons dirt roads.

Location of lake LekandiroLake Lekandiro is located in Arusha national park’s north eastern grasslands and just a short distance north of the two large Momella lakes. It is also a short distance south of the town of Momella. For more information on this location, please see the map below.

How to get there ?By vehicle, as there are no airstrips in the area at the time of writing. It takes about an hour and a half of driving to get there from Ngongongare gate and about a 15 minute drive from Momella gate.

For more information on park fees and permits, please see the TANAPA website.
